I recently watched an eye-opening video by Grace Blakeley, author of ‘Vulture Capitalism,’ where she eloquently discusses how many feel trapped in a game they can’t win.
The prevailing belief is that we can only make the world a better place when we’ve won at the game of ‘business’.
Moreover, that success is attained by competing relentlessly, yet the reality is starkly different.
We collaborated our way to the top of the evolutionary tree, but since industrialisation and capitalism, we’ve reverted to primate ‘dominance hierarchy’.
Only a select few can truly “win,” – You just can’t beat statistics can you?
One ‘expert’ on entrepreneurialism put the odds at 1 in 400 start-ups will be successful. So, as jobs disappear in the next stage of tech, becoming an entrepreneur is not an option either… Except for the very few.
Is it time for a paradigm shift?
Living shouldn’t solely be about continual ‘grind’ It’s about fostering collaboration, empathy, and community building.
-We Need A Paradigm Shift in Leadership:
Instead of viewing leadership through the narrow lens of individual achievement, let’s embrace a model of leadership that prioritises collaboration and community empowerment.
– Building Solid Communities:
True leadership lies in uplifting and uniting people and sharing resources. It’s about creating environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, not just a privileged few.
– Cultivating a Culture of Empowerment not Hierarchy:
As leaders, it’s our responsibility to nurture environments where every voice is heard, and every contribution is valued. By fostering a culture of empowerment, we can unlock the full potential of our teams and communities.
– Embracing Diversity and Inclusion:
In our journey towards redefining the way we live ecologically, let’s ensure that diversity and inclusion are at the forefront. By embracing different perspectives and experiences, we can foster innovation and drive positive change.
– Let’s Lead with Purpose:
Ultimately, leadership should be guided by a sense of purpose that extends beyond personal gain. It’s about making a meaningful impact and leaving a legacy of collaboration, compassion, and community building.
If you’re one of the ‘lucky’ few who have won at the game of business, then look at helping others around you.
And if you’re thinking about what to do next, think about how you can make the 🌍 a better place…Now.
📽️ Attached is the thought-provoking video by Grace Blakeley, which sparked this reflection. I invite you to watch it and join the conversation on redefining leadership for a better, more inclusive future.
Together, let’s rewrite the narrative of leadership and life’s journey and build a world where collaboration, not competition, is the key to success.
