In hierarchical systems, it’s often the case that the most destructive traits—the Dark Tetrad (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism)—rise to the top.
This has led to a world where power and profit are prioritised over people and planet, resulting in widespread harm.
This isn’t new; it’s been unfolding for over 10,000 years since hierarchies began replacing the egalitarian structures that sustained our ancestors.
Politicians and centralised systems won’t save us from this trajectory.
The only way forward is through localised solutions—taking action within our communities to rebuild resilience and counterbalance fear-driven power structures.
The Stoics remind us that we cannot stand idly by; instead, we must embody their virtues:
💪 Courage to act, even when the odds feel overwhelming.
❤️ Compassion to connect and uplift those around us.
🧠 Clarity to see the truth with situational awareness.
🤔 Curiosity to explore better solutions and challenge the status quo.
Change begins with us, but it doesn’t end there. Let’s make our communities the antidote to the dysfunction at the top.
