Working on a presentation for next week… I wondered….. Are We Just Apes with Technology?
In today’s world, it’s easy to see ourselves as advanced beings, separated from our ancestral roots by the layers of technology and modern comforts we’ve created.
But are we really that different from the humans who lived as primarily as egalitarian communities for 200,000 years?
If we strip away our need to dominate resources and control others, could we return to a more egalitarian way of life—one where cooperation and shared purpose drive us forward?
Imagine a world where we harness the power of our technology not for power over resources including attention, but for collective prosperity.
A world where empathy, resilience, and community are at the core of our progress.
We don’t have to abandon our advancements; instead, we can redefine success and power in ways that align with our deepest values and communal instincts.
Perhaps then, we might solve some of the existential challenges we face today—challenges that our ancestors might have approached with a different mindset.
Let’s strive to be more than just “apes with technology.”
Let’s push beyond our need to dominate and instead, lead with empathy, shared purpose, and a true sense of community.
