🌟 Exciting Insights from #AdventureMind23 Symposium 🏞️

Had the privilege of attending the #adventuremind23 symposium led by the incredible Belinda Kirk, a true explorer and pioneer.

Together with hundreds of like-minded adventure leaders, outdoor mental health practitioners and academics, we delved into the world of adventure as a crucial component of mental and emotional #wellbeing.

I had the honor of conducting #mentaltoughness ‘walkshops’ focusing on three key elements.

Firstly, drawing wisdom from #stoicism, advocating for ‘voluntary challenges’ to better prepare us for the ‘involuntary challenges’ in our transforming world.

Secondly, exploring the benefits of ‘#flow states’ not only for enhanced performance but also for infusing life with more profound meaning.

As Viktor Frankl observed in WWII prison camps, a sense of #purpose significantly increases resilience in the face of adversity.

Diving deeper, we explored the four levels of mental toughness: regression, resistance, resilience, and robustness and how we can become more robust.

The development of the anterior midcingulate cortex (aMCC) in the brain, stimulated by embracing uncomfortable challenges, equips us to be more robust, adaptable, and determined to succeed.

Basically ‘Be More RAD!’

Strengthening tenacity and will-power can remarkably reduce vulnerability to depression and apathy, according to research.

And that’s the point of adventure mind to highlight research that supports the outdoors as a key component in developing resilience, mental and emotional health and physical wellbeing.

In the New Year, I’m thrilled to be interviewing Belinda on the ‘Rebels Chatting’ podcast.

The podcast aims to spotlight the courageous explorers and pioneers carving pathways into a bold new world.

I believe that telling people what they need to do is not as effective as creating a new path and showing others what’s possible.

Remember the words of Buckminster Fuller: “Don’t fight the existing reality; go out and create a new reality which makes the old one obsolete.”

If you’re keen to explore and experience the ‘Mental Toughness Walkshop’ with your team, feel free to reach out.

Let’s embark on this adventure of self-discovery and resilience together!
