🌄 Sunday Morning Musings 🌿

Everything in nature is regenerative, it’s nature’s modus operandi. Yet, our human systems, aimed at empowering the rich further, create hierarchies, monopolies, and perpetual growth, disrupting this natural lifecycle.

As American sociobiologist Edward Wilson remarked: “We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and god-like technology.”

I believe the Palaeolithic emotions aren’t the problem though.

It’s the monkey-like ‘dominance behaviour systems,’ predating Palaeolithic times and mirrored by capitalist systems today, that cause the trouble.

Perhaps if we embraced being more human-natured, rather than applauding monkey-like ‘entrepreneurial’ greed, we’d adopt a mindset capable of living regeneratively and fairly.

The hustle culture, with its relentless push for more, exacerbates this issue, leading to burnout and poor mental health. We need to recognise that ego-centric entrepreneurial stages are meant to evolve into community ownership.

Just like hunters in egalitarian ‘hunter-gatherer’ tribes share their wealth, we must move beyond the ‘compete and control’ stage to be truly regenerative.

As research has shown, many hunter-gatherer societies operate on principles of egalitarianism and sharing, illustrating that a fair and balanced approach is not only possible but inherent in our nature.

Let’s embrace this wisdom and create systems that nourish both people and the planet. 🌍💚
