This month has been a whirlwind of activity, milestones, and inspiring connections that underscore the transformative power of adventure and the outdoors.
🏕️ I was honoured to be invited as an Ambassador for Adventure Mind, an incredible initiative led by Belinda Kirk.
Adventure Mind brings together outdoor professionals, academics, and therapists researching the positive impact of adventure on mental health.
As part of this role, I attended the hashtagRGS hashtagExploreSymposium2024, where I co-delivered with Belinda a workshop on designing expeditions that place wellbeing and mental health at the heart of the experience.
🧭 I’m also thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) —a moment that reflects my dedication to promoting nature and adventure-based learning experiences (ABLE to Enable), and its benefits for resilience, wellbeing, dynamic teaming and bold leadership.
🌳 Another highlight this month came from the amazing feedback we received from teachers after me and a colleague Tim Gee from PEAKDISTRICTSURVIVALSCHOOL LTD delivered an outdoor curriculum session.
Teachers were amazed at the recall and engagement of children who often struggle in the classroom, proving once again that learning in nature unlocks potential in powerful ways, not only in children, but in teams and leaders.
If you want me to explain how this works from a research perspective, get in touch and grab some of the complimentary ‘hashtagwildcoaching sessions that are available through December.
There’s a chance to transform your training in the workplace from boring and ineffective to daring, risky and impactful and certainly memorable and better for your wellbeing.
🏞️ Looking ahead, I’m excited to be co-leading my final Freshwalks of the year with Michael Di Paola, which will take us up the breathtaking Shutlingsloe (the ‘Matterhorn of Cheshire’) and end at the brilliant Lazy Trout Pub in Meerbrook, Leek.
Why not experience netwalking at its best?
🌍 As the year draws to a close, I’m feeling hopeful for the future. I truly believe that more businesses will recognise the outdoors as a pathway to better health and wellbeing, stronger teams, and eco-centric leadership.
Fancy an adventure in 2025?
Adventure is not just recreation—it’s transformation.
Here’s to continuing this journey together! 🌟
